Egypt Announces Plan For 8 EGP Billion Medical City Between Marsa Matrouh and Alexandria

Egypt’s healthcare is in dire need of an upgrade and on Friday it was announced that it will build an 8 EGP billion ‘medical city’ between Alexandria and Marsa Matrouh. 

The proposed plan is to cover 80,000 square meters, funded by Saudi investment groups, the medical city project will be located between Alexandria and Marsa Matrouh. The announcement took place on Friday at a press conference attended by several officials from both Alexandrian and Saudi Arabia. At the meeting, officials explained that the project would be completed in four phases that hope to be completed by 2019. 

The first phase involves opening a public hospital, adhering to international standard, and equipped with 300 beds. The second phase plans to develop seven specialized hospitals. The third phase hopes to open 220 clinics in a massive medical tower, while the fourth phase will see the launching of EGP 700 million faculty for medical sciences and technology.
