Failed State

Foreign Policy's list of failed states is out, and Egypt is ranking pretty low. Lower than Djibouti.

Staff Writer

Foreign Policy have released the Failed States list for 2013 and it's not shaping up so well for Egypt. We've been put in the 'Critical Danger' category, ranked below the likes of Rwanda, Cambodia, Kyrgyzstan, and Djibouti. Djibouti! Fucking DJibouti. They only became a country like 40 years ago and are still fairing better than the most ancient civilisation in the world. But don't worry there is a light at the end of the tunnel: we are one place ahead of Sierra Leone where over 50,000 people have been killed, amputated, raped and more by rebel forces in a vicious civil war. Yes! Take that Sierra Leone. The ranking is based on economic and social factors from delegitisimiation of the state to public services and demographic pressure.
