Hakawati Launches New Podcast Series ‘Startup Confessionals’

The Beirut-based podcast network’s latest project will see founders from across the MENA region open up about their entrepreneurial journeys.

Startup Scene

Already home to popular podcast series such as Khilqit Binit and The Men’s Room, Beirut-born podcast network, Hakawati, has added an intriguing new project to its repertoire, one that will put the region’s entrepreneurs and founders in the hot-seat.

Hosted by Silicon Valley-based marketing expert, Yasmeen Turayhi, Startup Confessionals will scour MENA for the most interesting entrepreneurial personalities, offering them a space to open up about their journeys and giving insight into their successes, challenges and failures, across all and any sector. As a GTM Operator who has launched over 200 products, board member of TechWadi and author of Product Marketing Debunked, Turayhi will bring her own insight to each interview.

“We’ll dive into startup founder stories from the Middle East and North Africa to learn about some of their biggest lessons and challenges on the road to product-market fit,” Turayhi said of the series. “Our mission is to illuminate founders in the region and uncover the honest and often unspoken truths about startup life, from the personal to the professional.”

For Turayhi and Hakawati, the series seemed like a logical result of what they see as a unique regional ecosystem that subsequently boasts its own unique stories and circumstances. “These founders have a unique lens about what it takes to build and grow a company in the Middle East and North Africa,” she added. “Oftentimes, these founders have found ways to deliver on the promise of their product within an early or non-existent ecosystem.”

The series’ debut episode welcomed Dana Baki, co-founder and COO of Dubai-based food delivery app, Munch:On. You can find out more at Hakawati.fm.
