Beauty mogul Huda Kattan’s Dubai-based seed initiative, Huda Beauty Angels, has announced that it has invested in female wellness startup, Ketish. The brand is going to be the first to be launched by HBA, which falls under parent private investment office, Huda Beauty Investments (HBI).

A feminine care label, Ketish is led by Egyptian-American Eman Abbass, the former Huda Beauty product manager. Abbass was inspired to found the business by her own health struggles, as she was diagnosed with cervical cancer at 21-years-old. Nine years and one long journey later, she launched the wellness brand and named it after an ancient Egyptian deity.

“Ketish is a movement,” Kattan said. “It’s about taking power back and being fully comfortable with yourself. When people start to become part of this community, they’re going to feel liberated.”

“I realised very quickly that this was a topic that so many people had so many issues with,” she continues, saying that “the more I started talking to Emaan, the more I was convinced that she could change the category.”

Abbass affirms that Ketish is set to launch in August 2021.
