IceAlex Launches Startups of Alex, the City's First Business Incubator

Entrepreneurs in Alexandria, rejoice! Cairo has long been Egypt’s startup hub, but some much needed attention is now being directed towards the country's second largest city with the creation of Startups of Alex, the city’s first local business incubator. Kick-started by IceAlex, the programme comprises of an entrepreneurship support group and a working space committed to promoting the growth of local sustainability-minded initiatives. Funded by the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology, Startups of Alex aims to unite all the individual elements of the Alexandrian startup ecosystem to nurture growing businesses and help entrepreneurs realise their full potential.

Adding to a growing ecosystem that saw the birth of the city's first angel investors, Alexandria Angels last December, the hub will offer services such as workshops, consultation and mentoring, co-working facilities and use of a makerspace, setting off to become a powerful networking tool for entrepreneurs, connecting startup owners with investors, partners, mentors, and other business owners. Its large network of services aims to increase the success rate of Alexandrian startups, in turn boosting the local ecosystem and creating jobs through growing new businesses.

The first deadline for applications is the 30th of June, and the final deadline will be on the 10th of July, with the incubation period spanning from August until January 2018.

Entrepreneurs interested in applying can find more information on the icealex website.
