Nowhereland Tattoo Studio Owner Reveals Its Staff Was Arrested Because of a Dildo
Orne Gil opens up about the real reason why Nowhereland Tattoos Studio was shut down.
A Facebook post published by Nowhereland Tattoo Studio yesterday and written by owner Orne Gil claims that the studio was raided and the artists arrested and charged with ‘prostitution’ and ‘homosexuality’ two months ago.
In her post, Gil says the police found a dildo in the studio (where she also lives). She also claims the officers stole money, tattoo machines, a silver medal, headphones and confiscated private computers and cellphones.
Gil claims that the officers who raided her house/studio and arrested her and her colleagues did so without a warrant, she also says that they were detained for a whole day without food and water. Gil, an Italian national, was later released at the behest of the Italian embassy but was asked to leave the country after the investigation. Gil says she doesn’t know what could have happened to her if it hadn’t been for the fallout between Egypt and Italy in the heels of the Giulio Regeni case. Gil is now in Germany where she is gearing up to set up shop in Berlin.
The post ends on a slightly lighter note where she voices her support for Egypt LGBTQ community and reassures her customers that Nowhereland Tattoo Studio is nowhere near closed, saying: “We are still operating in Egypt, but from different places.”
