For the first time, the Central Bank of Egypt will allow self-employed workers and micro-entrepreneurs to open a bank account using only their national ID. Previously, such ventures required more extensive documentation. The decision is part of a wider push by the Central Bank to make their services more accessible to the citizens of Egypt, and to help struggling citizens and small businesses find financial security.
