Founded in 2020 by Dominic Nowell-Barnes and Lucy and Gaurav Sinha, ‘The Giving Movement’, a UAE-based sustainable consumer-orientated fashion label, has been keeping industry supply chains 100% green and locally manufactured. Their business model has not only been functional at its core but it recently gained global traction, recently closing $15 million in a Series A round led by Knuru Capital and a collection of angel investors from across the SWANA region.

The pandemic has fostered fertile ground for the concept of ‘athleisure’ to thrive, thus allowing for the brand’s athleisure and loungewear sets to garner tremendous success over the past two years. Their ‘give-back’ brand philosophy has not only been their unique-selling point amongst GCC apparel labels alike, but their locality also has played a massive role in their establishment - a centralised supply chain for home-grown and high-quality inventory.

“We are most excited to be part of the next phase of this great journey,” says Co-founder, and CEO at Knuru Capital, Alain Dib. “The Giving Movement represents the best of what we see as this next, permanent wave in fashion. Consumers care about purpose, circularity, and the environmental impact of what they wear. Dominic and his team combine a very strong business performance with a deeply-rooted stance on community and human values in equal measure.”

The funds will be utilised to further expand into childrenswear and babywear, having already fortified themselves within loungewear industries and formalwear earlier this year subsequent to their collaboration with the Museum of the Future at their February launch event.
