US and Canada Issue Security Warning For Citizens in Egypt

In statements released by both Canadian and American embassies in Egypt on October 7th, both countries' citizens are warned to "avoid large gatherings and public spaces such as concert halls, movie theatres, museums, shopping malls, and sports venues in Cairo through Sunday, October 9, due to potential security concerns."

While warnings have been issued in the wake of the January 25th revolution and ahead of known protests, the reasons behind this warning remain unknown as neither the Canadian nor the American embassy have specified the reason behind the potential security threat.
