Uber Bus for Business to Launch in Egypt

As Uber continues to roll out new features, Egypt has become something of a testing ground for newest offerings by the ride-hailing giant. The latest has come in the form of a new business-to-business bus service, aptly named Uber Bus for Business.

While there was news back in April 2021 about the service, its launch in Egypt comes as a global first, following other global firsts in Egypt including the pilot of a call-back safety feature announced in September 2020, and of course Uber Bus in 2018.

“Bus for Business is another stride towards unlocking the future of how our cities move,” Uber Egypt’s General Manager, Ahmed Khalil, saud. “Leveraging the Uber technology, the service aims to help businesses enhance their transportation logistics by redesigning a hassle-free daily commute for their employees and staff. In parallel, we are taking part in improving urban planning to preserve the environment by cutting down congestion as well as parking footprints.”

The service incorporates tech features including trip-tracking, in-app safety features and ridecheck in the event of unexpected long stops, as well as access to customer support. The roll-out comes off the back of a successful pre-launch that saw 12.9x growth and the establishment of working partnerships with companies from a variety of industries, with the automotive sector in the crosshairs. Uber is to enter into a sweeping partnership with Nissan Motor Egypt to transport over 1,000 employees to-and-from the Nissan factory in the west of Cairo using tailored, cross-city routes. The service will also be piloted in Mexico.
