Video: Egyptian Teenagers Brutally Attacked by Italian Youth in Sicily

A shocking video showing a gang of Italian youngsters attacking four Egyptian teenagers with baseball bats and a gun has been circulating across Italian media channels, triggering social media outrage as the Egyptian minors were sent to the hospital – one of them with life-threatening wounds.

“You piece of s*it, you need to go home; don’t come to town anymore,” one of the Italian youngster shouts. “Please, I don’t speak Italian,” says one of the Egyptian children in Arabic. “Shoot, shoot,” someone in the background shouts, in Italian.

The attack took place on Saturday in San Cono, a small village in the southern province of Sicily. According to Italian newspaper La Sicilia, the Egyptian children, young migrants living in the town’s reception centre for unaccompanied minors in San Michele di Ganzaria, were approached by a gang in a car as they walked back from a market on the side of the highway.

The Egyptian nationals, aged between 16 and 17, filmed the episode with their mobile phones, which allowed Italian Police to identify and arrest three two brothers, Giacomo and Davide Severo, as well as 18-year-old Antonino Spitale on charges of complicity in attempted murder, personal injury and illegal possession of weapons.

According to Italian news agency Ansa, one of the Egyptian teenagers underwent head surgery to drain the haematoma and is now in a medically induced coma.
