Egyptian-born virtual events platform, Eventtus, continues its remarkable rise with the news that it has been acquired by Bevy, a Silicon Valley-based company that specialises in enterprise-grade virtual event & in-person customer-to-customer community management.

The acquisition comes nine years after Eventtus was launched by Mai Medhat and Nihal Fares in 2012, during which the startup has become one of the most innovative to come out of Egypt and one of its ecosystem’s biggest success stories.

Having first come to life as a firm specialising in offline events, it was during the pandemic that Eventtus really disrupted the industry, pivoting to offer their services online. They have garnered support and funding from some of the ecosystem’s most notable investors, including Algebra Ventures, Cairo Angels, 500 Startups, Middle East Venture Partners , Raed Ventures, Hala Ventures and Daal.

Bevy, meanwhile, was founded in 2017 and has raised a total funding of $60 million-plus, with the acquisition set to allow the company to cement its position through its end-to-end white-labeled event system.

As part of the deal, Mai Medhat will join Bevy as VP of Innovation and Nihal Fares will take on the role of Director of Product, while the Eventtus team will also join Bevy, but work remotely.
