To accommodate the growing crowd of commuters on Egypt’s public transportation system, 15 new metro stations will be established across the country in 2023, raising the total number of metro stations to 89.

As part of the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development and the Ministry of Transportation’s vision to reduce carbon emissions by incentivising people to use public transport instead of petrol-powered cars, the new metro stations will efficiently connect Egyptian towns, while reducing congestion.

Recently, the 3A line launched its trial period in October with four stations, namely Gamal Abdel-Nasser in Downtown Cairo, Maspero, Safaa Hegazy in Zamalek, and Kit Kat in Imbaba.
