‘ClimaTech Run 2022’ - an inspiring global competition created by the Egyptian Ministry of International Cooperation in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment and the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology - has revealed the short list of startups and artists who will be presenting their innovative ideas at #COP27.

The competition features two tracks, the ‘ICT for Climate Action Track’ and the ‘DigitalArt4Climate’. The ‘ClimaTech Run’ track is focused on climate technology startups working on sustainable solutions to ongoing challenges, including water management, food security, renewable energy, urban development and other areas.

The first phase of the ‘ICT for Climate Action Track’ was held in September and attracted a staggering 422 climate technology startup applications from across 77 countries spanning all seven continents. Of the hundreds of applications, 15 entrepreneurs were chosen to pitch their startups at COP27 this November in Sharm El Sheikh.

Meanwhile, the ‘DigitalArt4Climate Track’ centers around the ways in which the digital creative economy can interact with sustainability and propel climate change. Over 166 artists from 55 countries applied including 16 from Africa. Currently, 33 designs are being filtered to be showcased at COP27’s Ministry of Environment Green Zone, where COP27 attendees can vote for their favourite pieces.
