2,179 Egyptian Students Return from Ukraine

Since the start of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the Egyptian government has been steadily funneling the approximate 3,000 Egyptians students in Ukraine back to their home country. Out of that total number, 2,179 Egyptian students have filed to continue their education and transfer to an Egyptian university.

A small number of Egyptians are refusing to leave Ukraine, including students who want to continue their education there or those who fear that their academic career may be affected if they leave the country. Even so, around 80% of the students have already returned home.

Only 941 of the students who applied for a transfer have proof of enrollment in their universities in Ukraine. For Egyptian universities, these transfers cannot be approved without the proof of enrollment. As such, students are given three months to obtain the necessary documents. After their arrival in Egypt, students will have two weeks to submit these documents at the Ministry of Emigration and Expatriate Affairs in Agouza.
