250 Underprivileged Egyptians to Receive Free Cataract Surgeries

The Arab Medical Union’s ‘Ibsar’ Centre for Combating Blindness is focused entirely on reducing avoidable blindness, and cases of cataract and glaucoma diseases. To that end, they've treated 19,000 patients and performed more than 3,000 operations in Egypt free-of-charge. Hoping to push that number further, the Ibsar Centre have launched a campaign called 'Awdet El Nour Le Gheir El Qadareen’ where they will perform free cataract surgeries on 250 Egyptians across the country’s governorates, beginning with 60 cataract operations in Sidi Gaber, Alexandria.

The campaign is dedicated to providing treatment to those who would otherwise be unable to pay for them, relying on donations to help fund their operations. They're accepting donations through their hotline, 16326. If you'd like to learn more about their various donation channels, you can find them on their facebook page at f/amu.ibsar.
