25th of January Hospital Foundation Allocates EGP 5 Million for Specialised ICU for COVID-19
The 25th of January Foundation hospital has announced their allocation of EGP 5 million to establish a Coronavirus ICU and for the purchase of ventilators to serve them.
Al-Sharqiya’s 25th of January Hospital Foundation has announced plans of donating EGP 5 million towards establishing a specialised ICU (intensive care unit) for patients suffering from COVID-19, as well as for the purchase of ventilators. This decision came as a response to the significant shortage of ICUs and ventilators across the nation, and the dire need for them at this critical time. The state-of-the-art ICU equipment will be available for the government to use and place wherever they see fit, with the Ministry of Health handling the administration. Once the crisis passes, all ICU equipment and ventilators are to be returned to the 25th of January Hospital.
The statement encouraged other foundations and private sector hospitals to follow suit by setting up more intensive care units across the country. This move falls in line with other efforts by the foundation, including its announcement declaring that the hospital will be at the Ministry of Health’s full disposal, whether for checkups, quarantine or treatment.
