7,000 barrels of oils and 10 million cubic feet of gas per day found in the Western Desert

The Ministry of Petroleum & Mineral Resources announced the discovery of a new supply of oil and gas in the Western Desert of the Sahara. The discovery was made after the Borg El Arab Petroleum company conducted an exploratory drill in the area. Estimates place the production rate of the find at 7,000 barrels of oil per day and 10 million cubic feet of natural gas per day.

The report of this find was sent by the Chairman of Borg Al Arab Petroleum to the Minister of Petroleum & Mineral Resources Tarek El-Molla. The discovery comes after recent government deals to import gas from neighbouring countries while, according to Hellenic Shipping News, Egypt's petroleum and gas consumption rose from 89.7 million tonnes in the 2018/2019 fiscal year to 92.4 million tonnes in 2019/2020.
