Actor Khaled El Nabawy Stars as Imam Al Shafi’ in New Ramadan Series

Actor Khaled El Nabawy will star in an upcoming Ramadan 2023 mini-series titled ‘Imam Al Shafi’i’, where he will take on the role of the titular Islamic scholar. As one of the first four Imams in the history of Islam, Imam Al Shafi’i is renowned as one of the main contributors to the principles of Islamic jurisprudence.

The 15-episode series is written by acclaimed Egyptian writer Mariam Naoum (known for her work on ‘Khaly Balak Min Zizi’, ‘Wesh w Dahr’ and ‘Between Two Seas’), and directed by Syrian director Laith Hijo (who previously worked on ‘24 Carat’ and ‘Awlad Adam’).

The cast will feature a diverse set of actors from Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, Egypt and the US,  including Egypt’s Arwa Gouda, Salma Abu Deif, Mohamed Sharnouby, Khaled Anwar and Syrian actor Khaled Al Keesh.
