Arab League’s Hashtag Campaign Asks Women to Share their Stories in the Time of Corona
The campaign aims to shed light on the difficult circumstances many women face during this time.
Ambassador Haifa Abu-Ghazaleh, the assistant secretary-general of the Arab League, announced the launch of 'My Story with Coronavirus', an online initiative to shed a light on the fundamental role that women play during the COVID-19 crisis, especially since women constitute roughly 70% of the health care workforce. The hashtag campaign, under #إحكي_قصتك, encourages women to tell their stories.
Abu-Ghazaleh went on to say that many women who singlehandedly carry the burden of family care are more prone to informal employment, and are more likely to be exposed to consistent domestic violence under quarantine. The campaign asks these women to share their stories, whether negative or positive, and highlight the struggles and revelations they’ve encountered during this unprecedented time in history.
