The Egyptian Cabinet approved a draft bill setting in motion the establishment of the Egyptian Intellectual Property Authority.
The Egyptian Cabinet approved a draft bill, setting in motion the establishment of the Egyptian Intellectual Property Authority, the first entity of its kind in the country. The authority will regulate and protect intellectual property rights across Egypt, as part of a nationwide intellectual property strategy announced in September.
The regulatory body will officially operate in 2024, raising awareness about intellectual property rights, and coordinating with policymakers and relevant governmental institutions to implement its newly established strategies. The project is also set to encourage small business owners, young entrepreneurs and artists in Egypt to register their research, creative projects, and inventions through the Egyptian Intellectual Property Authority.
