Bassem Youssef is Making a Cartoon!

Bassem Youssef is about to put out a children’s book series called ‘The Magical Reality of Nadia’, and soon afterwards, he's about to turn it into a full cartoon series!

Staff Writer

Okay, so if you memorized everything we've buzzed about this year (big ask, we know), you may remember that fan fav funnyman Bassem Youssef is about to put out a children’s book series called ‘The Magical Reality of Nadia’ with Scholastic in February 2021. It's barely even a couple months away so obv we're excited for its release - it looks SO charming, LOOK at that book cover - but now he's announced something even bigger. He's taking that magical world and turning it into a cartoon!

The book series is written by Youssef with the help of Catherine R. Daly, with illustrations by Douglas Holgate. In it, Nadia - who is named after Youssef’s daughter - moves from Egypt to America as a six-year-old where she gets bullied for her heritage. Soon she discovers the spirit of an ancient teacher lurking within her amulet who pulls her into a new reality full of adventure.

Adapted by Powerhouse Animation Studios, Youssef will serve as the show's executive producer and the voice of the amulet's ancient spirit, Titi. After completion, the series will be shopped to a number of streaming platforms. Maybe Disney+ could give him a leg up after his voice work in the Ducktales reboot? (Doctor, comedian, author, voice actor - seriously, Youssef, slow down, you’re making the rest of us look like slackers).
