The Bibliotheca Alexandrina in Alexandra lit up in bright orange to commemorate the end of the United Nations’ global 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence campaign. The library joined landmarks around the world in spotlighting the issue for the fifth year in a row, using orange light to symbolise a world free of violence against women.

The library also held a psychodrama play, ‘Haky Farashat’, the product of a workshop by the same name that empowered women with acting and storytelling skills, and then brought their talents onto the stage to help them express their social and economic realities. A solidarity stand was also organized in light of the occasion, where people gathered to express support and demand action for victims and survivors of gender-based violence.
