Blasphemous Babe is at it Again

Alia al-Mahdi, notorious for her unorthodox outspoken censure of Islamic rule in Egypt, has added yet another episode in her series of scandal.

A blasphemous babe has caused a stir with a cheeky campaign against the Muslim call to prayer. Alia al-Mahdi, better known as the 'nude poser', has caused a stir in many Mosques after mocking the holy call on social media sites. Ms. al-Mahdi's Facebook account featured a jocular call to prayer photo alongside the words “woman is great ” instead of the token “Allahu Akbar” or “God is great” line from the orthodox call to prayer.

The post also changed “I bear witness that there is no god except the One God,” into “I bear witness that there is no lord, ruler or father.” Ms. al-Mahdi’s comments caused a storm amongst many Muslims including Salafist preacher Sheikh Nasser Radwan, who called her statements “pure heresy” and called for the bare-cheeked activist to be tried for “defaming religion and insulting the Divine Being.”

The radical cleric also urged leading Islamic centre, al-Azhar University, and the Interior Ministry, to “deal with Alia to stave off any controversy in the country.” The comments echoed by senior Muslim scholar Mahmoud Muhna who branded the feisty flasher an 'apostate' and called for Ms. Mahdi to be sent before a judge.

The stunt marks the latest in a series of controversial protests by Ms. Mahdi against Islamic rule in Egypt. She started her protest against Islamist rule in Egypt by posing naked on the Internet, a move she said she has never regretted.
