Cairo Jazz Club is hosting a tribute night in honour of the late Rock legend, David Bowie on the 23rd of February. CairoScene is trying to fit as many Bowie lyrics into one article as possible.
One of the greatest Rock/Pop/Electronic/Experimental/ legends of all time recently passed away; however, his impressive body of work will never be forgotten. Yes, we speak of the recent passing of ‘the thin white duke’ – David Robert Jones, better known as the unmistakable David Bowie. Looking to devote an entire evening to the legend, who is likely floating around in a tin can in heaven, is none other than Cairo Jazz Club, who have enlisted some of the best local artist on Tuesday February 23rd to pay proper tribute to this musical icon.
The sun machine is coming down, and we’re gonna have a party. By we, we mean the infamous Cairo Jazz Club, who will be hosting an evening of unforgettable tunes by none other than the man who sold the world. Attempting to be heroes, just for one day, will be a variety of locally talented musicians that will do their best to pay respects to the fallen music god.
Making love to their egos, on vocals are none other than the enigmatic Hany Must and George Aboutar. Inviting you to bring your red shoes and dance the blues, are dynamic drummers Maged Mohsen Faltas and Marwan Wahid Zaki. Hoping to prove they are not a prophet or a stone age man, just a mortal with the potential of a superman, are guitarist Omar Damien, Adam Awad and on bass Mohamed Mallawany. Meanwhile, hoping to avoid the kind of fame that burns your change to keep you insane, will be keyboardists Hazem Sadek and Sherif Elias.
I don’t know where they’re going from here, but I know it won’t be boring, which is something that we’ve come to expect at the always fun cover nights at CJC.
