Cairo Designathon Open For Applications
The Cairo Designathon returns for its second edition on April 17th, bringing the MENA region’s most promising designers to dream up socially conscious blueprints.
Do you have what it takes to compete in one of Egypt’s biggest design marathons? Well crack those knuckles and hold on to your pencils because the Cairo Designathon returns on April 17th. For the second time, the design marathon will gather creatives from all across the MENA region to generate innovative designs that can provoke a positive social impact. The theme for this year’s event is ‘Design Future Past’, which asks designers to imagine what the future would look like with the increasing proliferation of digitization.
The marathon is split into three modules - design for industry, crafts, and social impact - which will each have its own challenges. 30 teams will compete across six different challenges through online workshops over five days. At the end, each category will award EGP10,000 to the victors.
The marathon will also include 16 talks held by renowned designers on an array of subjects, and three film screenings in partnership with Film My Design.
If you’d like to put your design prowess to the test, you have until April 1st to apply via cairodesignathon.com
