Central Bank of Egypt Governor Among Top Ten Bankers Worldwide

America’s Global Finance Magazine has named Governor of the Central Bank of Egypt, Tarek Amer, as one of the world’s top central bankers for 2021.

Assessed from a pool of over 100 key countries and territories, Amer was awarded an ‘A’ rating for his success as a fiscal policy leader in the face of global financial adversity brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Joined by central bankers from Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, Chile, China, Czech Republic, Kuwait, Morocco and European Central Bank Governor Christine Lagarde, the bankers all received top ratings for their excellent performance in curbing inflation, achieving economic growth goals, stabilising currency and managing interest rates.

Tarek Amer has been governing the Central Bank of Egypt since 2015’s financial exchange crisis. Under his direction, Egypt has since achieved economic stability through the reformation of the foreign exchange regime from a fixed to a flexible model.
