Child Helpline Received Over 66,000 Calls in Two Months of 2025
The General Administration for Child Rescue managed 3,457 complaints, including cases of child abuse, neglect and child labour.

In the first two months of 2025, Egypt’s Child Helpline (16000) responded to 66,645 calls, with 87% of requests seeking urgent support for children in peril.
The General Administration for Child Rescue managed 3,457 complaints, including cases of child abuse, neglect, child labour, female genital mutilation (FGM), child marriage, sexual abuse, and online harassment such as cyberbullying and extortion.
The service also provided assistance for children in need of shelter and legal documents. The top regions for cases were Cairo, Giza, Alexandria, Daqahlia, Sharqia and Qalyubia. The helpline, in cooperation with relevant authorities, took immediate steps to ensure children’s safety and provide them with necessary resources.
Additionally, free consultations were offered through the hotline for legal and psychological assistance. The service was available 24/7 via the hotline, WhatsApp, and social media channels, collaborating with child protection units across the country and NGOs to provide swift support and intervention.
