Combining Culture & Cuisine

Here at CairoScene, we're a cultured lot. But alas, we also have a nasty habit of spending too many nights on the town to be willing/able to spend the weekend sitting in traffic en route to attend an exhibition. Thankfully, Alchemy's weekly brunch feast, There's Something Bloody About Mary, satisfies both our thirst for art and our taste for some of Cairo's best hangover grub.

This week is no exception, as Syrian/Egyptian craftsman, Thaer Jrab, displays some of his finest work. Jrab will be showing off some of his unique collection of pieces, fashioned from copper and metal, to produce a collection of mind bending inspirational art. Meanwhile, culture vultures will even have the opportunity to speak to Jrab about the reasons behind his refreshing and thought-provoking aesthetic.

However, that's not all - 'There's something Bloody about Mary' provides a refuge for Cairo's chic zombie set, as the city's Alchemists nourish you back to health with their tasty concoctions, including not-quite breakfast, and not-quite lunch favourites from Eggs Benedict, frittatas and stacks on pancakes, to healthier selections that include yoghurt parfaits, fresh fruits, granola mixes and more.

Meanwhile, some of the city's best alcoholic and non-alcoholic cocktails are available for those wanting a soft landing or a cheeky way to extend the party. Of course, the capital's cool kids aren't going to settle for a bland hotel buffet. Accordingly, the Alchemy wizards don't disappoint with their brilliant brunch menu.

The vibe is friendly and laidback and Alchemy provides a sure fire recipe for a delicious dining experience, hangover killing cocktails, and even some culture – just in case your mum calls and asks how you're spending your Saturday. Oh, and they make a mean Bloody Mary.

Alchemy’s There’s Something Bloody About Mary is held every Saturday from 12PM, and the brunch menu runs until 6PM, while Bloody Marys will be served all day.
