December 21st to Witness UAE’s Shortest Day of 2024

This weekend, UAE will experience its shortest day of the year, as the winter solstice falls on Saturday, December 21st. In the UAE, this means the sun will set at 5:34 PM, offering fewer daylight hours.

The winter solstice, also called the hibernal solstice, occurs when either of Earth's poles reaches its maximum tilt away from the Sun. This happens twice yearly, once in the northern and southern hemisphere each. For that hemisphere, the winter solstice is the day with the shortest period of daylight and longest night of the year.
