Downtown’s Egyptian Museum Exhibit Celebrates Ancient City of Qanatir
It is a fitting tribute to the rich cultural heritage of Egypt and the tireless efforts of those who work to preserve it.
The Egyptian Museum in Tahrir, in collaboration with the Römer Museum Belizius in Germany, has launched a temporary exhibition titled 'Antiquities of Qanatir: A Century of Excavations and Research at the Ramesside Residence'.
The exhibition showcases a range of artifacts from the city of Qantir, including historical warehouses from the city of San Al-Hajar in the eastern region, and reviews the history of excavations in the area since 1980 by the Römer-Pelizaeus Museum in Germany in collaboration with the Supreme Council of Antiquities.
The exhibition includes 250 artifacts that not only showcase the history of the excavations, but also provide a glimpse into the daily life of the inhabitants of Qantir during the Ramesside era. The exhibition will run until October 16th, 2023, in Hall No. 44 on the ground floor of the Egyptian Museum.
