EGP 300 Million Allocated to Protect Alexandria from Flooding

EGP 300 million has been allocated to equip the city with countermeasures against heavy rainfall in the winter.

Cairo Scene

Due to a lack of infrastructure that can handle heavy rainfall, Alexandria becomes susceptible to floods during the winter. A budget of EGP300 million has been allocated to better equip the city against the seasonal downpour.

The budget will go towards the construction of countermeasures to redirect rainwaters from public streets. The project will also pave the way for an upgrade to the city's sanitation system. The new measures are due to be completed by late 2021 or early 2022.
