The World Cup did it last year. The AFCON did it last month. Yes, trophy tours are very much the en vogue thing these days, because, well, who doesn’t love to queue up in a mall to have their photo taken next to a shiny, inanimate object?

Whatever the case, English Premiership Champions, Manchester City, are set to embark on their own trophy tour this month,  one that will last until December and include Egypt among its many stop-offs between the 12th and 15th of September.

The 2018/2019 season was a fruitful one for the Emirati-owned club, with the men’s team winning four competitions (Premiership, FA Cup, Community Shield and Carabao Cup, while to women’s team won a further two trophies (Women’s FA Cup and FA WSL Continental Cup).

Last season, Manchester City pipped Mo Salah's Liverpool to its second Premiership title in a row in what was one of the most closely fought league title showdown's in history. The league win was the crown jewel of a huge year that saw them become the first men's football team to secure a quadruple of trophies in English football.
