Egypt Moves Up 9 Places on World Economic Forum’s Tourism Competitiveness Index

Egypt has jumped nine spots in the World Economic Forum’s Tourism Competitiveness Index rankings, which which measure a range of factors that analyse how attractive a country is in terms of of business development and investment in the travel and tourism industry.

Egypt’s tourism sector went from being 74th on the list to the 65th, with one of the biggest factors for the rise mentioned in the report as Egypt being the first country in the Middle East to officially implement strategies geared at environmental sustainability.

Egypt was also ranked fifth in tourism promotion and marketing strategy, which Egypt has excelled with the launch of the #PeopleToPeople campaign this year in collaboration with online travel platform and nation-branding agency, Beautiful Destinations.
