Egypt Receives ‘Positive Signals' Over Gaza Truce Extension

Diaa Rashwan, the head of Egypt's State Information Service (SIS), announced on Saturday, November 25th, that Egypt has received encouraging indications from various stakeholders regarding the potential prolongation of the Gaza truce for one or two days.

Rashwan stated, “We have received positive signals from all parties regarding a potential extension of the Gaza truce for one or two days.” He explained that Egypt is engaged in comprehensive discussions with all involved parties, with the extension set to involve the release of additional hostages in Gaza and Palestinian detainees held hostage in Israeli jails.

The UN reported that 24 hours ahead of the four-day ceasefire, on Friday, November 24th, Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) intensified airstrikes. Yesterday IOF also dropped leaflets threatening Gazans not to return to the North, stating “the war is not over,” violating of the terms of the ceasefire. The humanitarian passageway has also been reportedly targeted by IOF forces despite the truce officially taking effect.

Israel released 39 Palestinian prisoners and Hamas freed 17 hostages in latest stage of ceasefire deal.
