Egypt Will Be First African Nation to Host FIBA Club World Cup
After defeating Rwanda 76 to 63 in the finals of the FIBA Africa Champions League last May, Zamalek’s basketball team will be the first African team to represent Africa at FIBA's Club Word Cup.
In a first for Africa, Egypt will host the FIBA Intercontinental World Cup, an annual basketball tournament that brings together the biggest club from each geographical zone to see who can shoot the sickest hoops. Also known as the FIBA Club World Cup, the tournament will take place at Cairo’s Hassan Mostafa Sports Hall from February 11th to February 13th.
After defeating Rwanda 76 to 63 in the finals of the FIBA Africa Champions League last May, Zamalek’s basketball team will compete against three other teams: Brazil’s Flamengo, the United State’s Lakeland Magic, and Spain’s San Pablo Burgos. This will be the first time an African team is represented at the FIBA Intercontinental Cup.
