Egypt Wins First Match in U19 Basketball World Cup Against Puerto Rico

In good sporting news, unrelated to football, the Egyptian national basketball team has won its first game in the 2017 U19 Basketball World Cup. The captivating game ended with a close 67-65 victory for Egypt against Puerto Rico, sending home 9,000 ecstatic Egyptian fans who were in attendance.

This marks a good start for the Egyptian team, who’s next match will be against Lithuania tomorrow July 3rd, after they had beat Germany in their first match 98-79.

The U19 FIBA World Cup is the International Basketball Federation's tournament for the under 19 category and there are only 13 participating countries this year, of which Egypt is the only Arab country. 

This is the first time for Egypt to host the 2017 U19 Basketball World Cup, which is being held from July 1 to 9 in Cairo and marks the first time the tournament is hosted in Africa.
