Egypt's Biggest Cancer Hospital 57357 Sees 85% Drop in Donations
A similar financial situation preceded the shutdown of 57357 hospital’s branch in Tanta city.
Children’s cancer hospital 57357, the largest cancer treatment facility in Egypt, saw a 85% decrease in donations over the past six months, compared to the same period in 2021.
The hospital has been a hub for scientific research and cancer treatment in Egypt since its establishment in 2007. Funded almost entirely through donations, the hospital has been dedicated to providing free high-quality healthcare to children with cancer. With this recent decline in donations, as well as rising prices across the board, the institution’s headquarters at Sayeda Zeinab in Cairo reduced the age of returning patient check-ups from 25 years old to 22 years old to accommodate its current capacity. A similar financial situation preceded the shutdown of 57357 hospital’s branch in Tanta city. The branch’s patients have since been transferred to Tanta University Hospital. Calls for donations have taken the internet by storm over the past week, with social media users urging others to visit 57357.org to help contribute.
