Egypt’s Biggest Solar Power Plant is Being Built in Kharga City
Located in New Valley governorate, the EGP 16.2 million project will cover an area of 22 thousand square metres.
Kharga, Egypt’s first green and eco-friendly city, is building the nation’s biggest solar power station in the New Valley governorate.
At an estimated cost of EGP 16.2 million, this new solar system will be built on an area of 22 thousand square metres and will be using solar energy to generate electricity for the entire mechanised governmental complex. With a capacity of 1.5 megawatts, the project will further contribute to the governorate's efforts in helping the environment by maximising its usage of clean energy.
Nearly 95% of the solar power station has already been completed.
Kharga City has already been successfully implementing many green initiatives to help save the environment, such as by operating on solar energy, establishing eco-friendly schools, opting for urban agriculture on rooftops, and recycling palm waste.
