Cargo, the first electric vehicle designed for transporting goods in Egypt, will hit the streets this May.
The announcement was made by the Arab Academy for Science, Technology & Maritime Transport (AASTMT), which led the production of Cargo as an alternative to motor tricycles.
AASTMT is also working on a second electric vehicle, a passenger car that will be able to accommodate up to five passengers. This second model is due for launch within the next six months.
The energy-efficient vehicles will be equipped with solar cells, and are designed to have a lower operating cost compared to gas-powered vehicles.
The Cargo vehicles will be available at a starting price of EGP 95,000.
