The national orphanage will be run by FACE for Children in Need, and will have a capacity of 200 children.
The Ministry of Social Solidarity has approved the launch of Egypt's first major, national orphanage in Cairo. The orphanage will provide temporary residence to children up to six years old for a maximum of three months, after which they would be sent to one of the various orphanages located across Egypt, most of which are run by NGOs.
The national orphanage will be run by FACE for Children in Need, a non-profit organisation, and will have a capacity of 200 children. Extended family members or potential foster families will be able to adopt a child from the national orphanage. The facility will be able to issue birth certificates and screen for diseases.
