Egypt’s First Solar-Powered Neighbourhood Lights On in Port Said

Port Said’s historic Al Manakh neighbourhood is the first in Egypt to be powered by solar energy. 

Street lamps are currently lit up with solar power, with solar panels installed on top of El Manakh Neighborhood’s Public Office and on several main streets. Energy-saving light bulbs have also been installed to support the transition to solar energy.

Al Manakh is home to 100,000 citizens and is one of Port Said’s oldest neighbourhoods, known for its prominent  fishing industry.
