Egypt's Natural Gas Consumption Drops by 400 Million Cubic Feet a Day

Egypt's natural gas consumption has decreased by approximately 400 million cubic feet per day. The reduced consumption is driven by power stations connected to the national gas grid, down from 3.3 billion cubic feet per day in the summer to 2.9 billion cubic feet per day this February.

Gas allocations are directed for export, enhancing the country’s gas export revenues. Power stations receive 2.7 to 2.8 billion cubic feet per day, along with about 12 thousand tons of diesel, while Egyptian factories receive about 1.5 billion cubic feet per day.

The gas reduction measures contribute to monthly savings of approximately USD 300 million by reducing electricity loads for two hours a day.
