Egypt’s Population Reaches 104.4 Million by End of 2022
Cairo is specifically the most populous city in Egypt with 10.2 million people alone.
The Central Agency for Public Mobilisation and Statistics (CAPMAS) revealed that Egypt’s population grew by 1.6 million people in 2022, reaching a total of 104.4 million people by the end of the year.
Cairo is specifically the most populous city in Egypt with 10.2 million people, followed by Giza at 9.5 million, Sharqiya at 7.9 million, Daqahliyah at 7 million, and Beheira at 6.8 million. The recent statement also showed that between 10 to 14 million Egyptians reside outside of Egypt. CAPMAS has previously estimated that, by 2052, Egyptians will reach 192 million.
With current nationwide reproductive health and fertility awareness campaigns, CAPMAS believes that these numbers could reach 143 million instead. To this end, the Egyptian government allocated EGP 100 million to discounted birth control services.
