Egypt’s Primary Surplus Reaches EGP 170 Billion in Five Months

Egypt recorded a primary surplus of EGP 170 billion in the first five months of the 2024/25 fiscal year (July–November), marking a sharp increase from the EGP 60.9 billion surplus registered during the same period in 2023/24. This represents the highest recorded primary surplus for this timeframe, tripling last year’s figure.

Between July and October 2024, Egypt’s general budget recorded a primary surplus of EGP 130.2 billion, equivalent to 0.76% of the country’s GDP. The latest figures reflect the government’s ongoing fiscal consolidation efforts and improved revenue performance.
