Egypt’s Weekly Food Exports Surge to 250 Thousand Tonnes
The exported products include fresh fruits and vegetables, as well as various processed food items.
According to the National Food Safety Authority (NFSA), Egypt’s food exports reached 250,000 tonnes in the final week of May. This marks a 30,000 tonne increase compared to the previous week. The exported products included over 610 types of fresh fruits and vegetables, as well as various types of processed food items.
Egypt exported around 55,000 of vegetables, the majority being potatoes (23,000 tonnes), followed by onions (22,000 tonnes) and beans (5,000 tonnes). Citrus remains the top exported fruit, with 55,000 tons shipped last week. Fresh grapes followed with 25,000 tonnes, and strawberries with 13,000 tonnes.
Egypt’s top export destinations for last week included the Netherlands, Saudi Arabia, Italy and Sudan.
