Egypt to Receive 1.9 Million Doses of AstraZeneca COVID-19 Vaccine

Egypt is set to receive 1.9 million doses of the Oxford-developed AstraZeneca vaccine against COVID-19 next week.

Originally scheduled for June, the shipment had experienced delays due to shortage of production, but Egypt’s inoculation programme continued its rollout by securing its first deliveries of Pfizer vaccines, Johnson and Johnson jabs, the Sputnik V vaccine, and local manufacturing of Sinovac.

The new shipment of AstraZeneca vaccines comes as part of COVAX, the COVID-19 Vaccines Global Access initiative which seeks to uphold equitable access around the world.
