Egypt to Receive 25 Million Doses of Johnson & Johnson Vaccine

The African Union and the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention’s distribution of 300 million doses of the vaccine across the continent.

Cairo Scene

Egypt will receive 25 million doses of Johnson & Johnson’s COVID-19 vaccine, as part of the African Union and the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention’s distribution of 300 million doses of the vaccine across the continent. Unlike the other options which require a follow-up dose weeks or months later, the Johnson & Johnson vaccine is administered in a single dose.

As part of the government’s efforts to stockpile and distribute as much of the vaccine as possible, Egypt will also locally produce 40 million doses of China’s Sinovac vaccine by 2022, as well as 40 million doses of Russia’s Sputnik V vaccine.
