EgyptAir Refutes Rumors About Charging in Dollars for Local Bookings
The airline clarified that it does not issue tickets from within Egypt for flights originating from outside the country.
EgyptAir has refuted rumors circulating on social media claiming that tickets booked within Egypt are paid for in US dollars instead of the Egyptian pound. The airline issued an official statement emphasising that flight tickets purchased from within Egypt for external destinations are indeed priced and paid for in Egyptian pounds.
Furthermore, EgyptAir clarified that it does not issue tickets from within Egypt for flights originating from outside the country. This ensures that the local currency remains the accepted form of payment for domestic ticket bookings.
The airline's response comes in the wake of a social media post where an individual claimed they were unable to book a ticket and pay for it in Egyptian pounds through the EgyptAir website. The post alleged that flight tickets were being priced and paid for in US dollars instead of the national currency.
