Egyptian-Made Chinese Smartphones ‘Vivo’ to Be Produced in Sharqia

In a plan to encourage local production, Egypt’s Ministry of Communications has started working on the Vivo Telecom Technology Company facility, a factory in 10th of Ramadan city in the governorate of Sharqia.


This facility will be the first step of the ‘Egypt Makes Electronics’ presidential initiative, which aims to make Egypt one of the pillars of smartphone production, and invite more international producers to manufacture locally.


The facility sits on an area of 11,000 square meters, with an investment of around USD 20 million, which is expected to increase to USD 30 million within a year. This initiative will create 1,500 new jobs within a year and will employ the most advanced international technology in manufacturing lines, surface installation devices, assembly, calibration, and testing.


Vivo is a prominent multinational corporation based in southern China that specializes in the production of smartphones and accessories, the development of proprietary software, and the provision of Internet services.
